The Lombards lived in an area later named after them- Lombardy in Italy. Lombardy is a great, fertile valley, next to the Po River. The Lombards captured basically all of Italy except for Rome, Ravenna, and Naples. The weather in that part of Italy/Italy was humid and hot.

This is a picture of Italy. The green part is where the Lombards lived. The yellow sections were frequently attacked by the Lombards being surrounded by Lombard territory but being in the Holy Roman Empire.
